Hobie Eyewear Joins Carl Jocumsen’s WorldWideLakeCleanUp with Lake Cleanup at Jordan Lake on Sunday, June 29
Oceanside, CA (June 9, 2025) - Hobie® Eyewear is proud to announce its participation in Carl Jocumsen’s 3rd Annual “Fear My Heart” Lake Clean-Up, part of the global #WorldWideLakeCleanUp—a movement uniting communities around the world to protect our lakes and waterways. On Sunday, June 29, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Hobie® Eyewear will host a local clean-up event at Jordan Lake, North Carolina (Farrington Point Access Area), in solidarity with Jocumsen’s flagship clean-up at Lake Chickamauga, TN.
What began in 2023 as a grassroots effort in Knoxville has grown into an international mission, with Carl Jocumsen leading the charge to clean up 100+ lakes in one day, all with one purpose and one heart. This year, Hobie® Eyewear is proud to bring that purpose to Jordan Lake—and is inviting the public to join in and make a difference.
Hull Float isn’t just built to float—it’s built to make a difference. Hobie® Eyewear’s latest step toward sustainability.
Supporting Sustainability in Action
Hobie® Eyewear’s participation in the #WorldWideLakeCleanUp is part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and waterway protection. Earlier this year, the brand launched its groundbreaking Hull Float sunglasses—the first-ever sunglasses made from 100% upcycled Hobie® kayak plastic. Not only do these sunglasses give excess materials new life, but they also float, helping prevent pollution when sunglasses accidentally fall overboard. A portion of the proceeds from Hull Float also benefits the FishAmerica Foundation, supporting conservation efforts nationwide.
“We’ve been behind Carl’s lake cleanups since his first one in Knoxville. I was able to attend that one and see the incredible impact that a small group of people can make in just a few hours,” said Dylan Coates, Hobie® Eyewear Marketing Manager. “This year, Hobie® Eyewear has taken a three-pronged approach towards sustainability. We’ve done it on a product level with Hull Float, we’ve partnered with the FishAmerica Foundation to help fund conservation projects, and most importantly, we’re taking action by organizing our own lake cleanup.”
